Good early 19th century African neck or head rest. Typical design, made of some sort of native African hardwood. Well used as can be seen by the wear to the base.These were carried by travellers and nomads in the deserts of Africa to rest the head on when sleeping to prevent nasty insects etc. getting into the ears.
