Description

The Fitzwilliam Museum Cup by Aurum Designs is solid silver,hallmarked on the underside of the base.In addition to the four marks of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths signifying designer,assay,the London office & year of marking,there is a fith,struck in the workshop.This special mark consists of a shield with the arms of Richard Fitzwilliam,7th Viscount Fitzwilliam.Designed by Joceyln Burton for Aurum Designs,commissioned by the museum in 1975.The cup is 9inches high & has a minimum silver content of 13 ounces(12 ounces Troy).The approximate specification for each of the five topaz cabuchons is 8 carats.Comes in it's own presentation box and signed booklet,150 made and this is numbered 117.In very good condition.There is a tiny indentation on one of the rims at the top of the cup and a tiny indentation on one of the rims on the foot of the cup.
