Description

Here we have an exquisite set of eight Mid-Century Sterling Silver Coffee Spoons with Gilt bowls in their original cloth roll holder. The spoons are part of the Harlequin range and each spoon features a different flower: Wild Rose, Goldenrod, Calla Lily, Hollyhock, Apple Blossom, Tea Rose, Water Lily & Forget-Me-Not. The range was launched in 1948 and continued in production through into the 1950s.

The spoons are made in Taunton, Massachusetts, USA by Reed & Barton, one of America's most famous and highly regarded silversmiths, which remains in the control of the Reed family to this day. The tarnish proof cloth roll has the retailer's label for the jewellers Gutowitz of Fulton Avenue, Hempstead, N.Y.

Condition is extremely good with no dings or dents to any of the spoons or damage to the moulded flowers on the stems. They have clearly been a treasured item for around 70 years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each spoon is around 10cm / 3.9ins long, varying slightly with the individual designs, and the set of eight together weighs in at a substantial 82g / 2.9oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The spoons are each marked on the undersides of the stems with REED & BARTON and STERLING.

Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
