Description

This is a very attractive cased set of Six Continental Silver Gilt Teaspoons. The spoons have barley twist stems which are topped by a finial featuring a face within a sort of crown shape. This features on both sides of the finial. They date to the late 19th or early 20th century.

The spoons are marked on the back of each bowl with a stamp of a rampant lion within a rectangle. We haven't been able to identify the mark with certainty but it is likely to be one of the Hanau marks used by either B. Neresheimer & Sons or Friedrich Reusswig, who were both active in Hanau, Germany at this time.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just a small amount of wear to the gilding, particularly on the underside of the bowls. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each spoon is 11.3cm / 4.4ins long and the set of six together, unboxed, weighs in at a respectable 57.6g / 2oz.
