Description

Here we have an exquisite set of five Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Teaspoons. The stems have a pierced design of interwoven flowers and foliage in a typically elegant Art Nouveau style. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind making these ideal as a gift.

The teaspoons are made in Sheffield by world famous silversmiths Mappin & Webb and date to 1915. With a history going back to Joseph Mappin in 1810, Mappin & Webb remain to this today one of the most important names in English silverware and are a byword for quality.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the bare minimum of superficial surface wear that you would expect after 107 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The teaspoons are each 11.6cm / 4.5ins long and the set of 5 together weigh a very respectable 57.5g / 2oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the undersides of the bowls, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the Gothic date letter x for 1915 and the M & W in a shield makers' mark for Mappin & Webb.

Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
