Description

This is a good quality cased set of six George VI Sterling Silver Coffee Spoons. The spoons have feathered edging to the stems, which have a pointed and upturned end. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The coffee spoons are made in Sheffield by renowned silversmiths Cooper Brothers & Sons and date to 1937. Although they made a wide range of silverware, Cooper Brothers & Sons are best known for their consistently good quality flatware and these are a fine example of their work.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the most minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect after 85 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each spoon is 9.4cm / 3.7ins long and the set of six together, unboxed, weighs in at a respectable 50.9g / 1.8oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the undersides of the stems, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter u for 1937 and the C.B & S makers' mark for Cooper Brothers & Sons.
