Description

This is an elegant George V Sterling Silver Four Slice Toast Rack from the 1930s. The base of the toast rack is oblong and the dividers are arched. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The toast rack is made in Sheffield by a firm of silversmiths simply known as T Ltd and dates to 1931. We haven't been able to find any information about this firm other than that they were active in the 1930s. However this is a well made toast rack in a good gauge of silver, so they were clearly capable of quality workmanship.

Condition is very good. There are no dings or dents and the rack stands securely on a flat surface without any wobbles. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The toast rack is 7.5cm / 2.9ins long, 4.6cm / 1.8ins wide and stands 8cm / 3.1ins high. It weighs a very respectable 54.6g / 1.9oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the side of the base, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter o for 1931 and the T.L td in conjoined circles makers' mark for T.Ltd.

Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the toast rack.
