Description

This is a nicely decorated early 20th century Danish 826 Silver Spoon with a Bright Cut stem. The front of the stem is decorated along its full length and has A.N. 1909 elegantly engraved in the cartouche at the top of the stem. It was probably originally a Christening gift.

The spoon is made in the town of Esbjerg on the South West coast of Denmark by Chr. Dalgaard and dates to 1909. The firm of Dalgaard was active in Esbjerg between 1902 and 1957 and is best known for their good quality flatware and tableware.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents, no rubbing to the engraving and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 110 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The spoon is 18.6cm / 7.3ins long and weighs in at a respectable 38.7g / 1.4oz of solid silver.

The marks on the underside of the stem are well struck and clear to read. They show the Danish three towered silver mark for minimum 826 / 1000 grade silver with the 09 beneath it for 1909. There is also the CFH assay master's mark for Christian F. Heise, who was in office from 1904-1932 and the DALGAARD makers' mark.
