Description

This is a neat Mid-Century Elizabeth II Sterling Silver Egg Cup. The egg cup is round with a stepped base and folded rim. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The egg cup is made in Birmingham by Broadway & Co and dates to 1961. Founded by William Broadway in 1901, Broadway & Co remains a family firm run by members of the Broadway family today and still manufactures silverware in Birmingham.

Condition is very good, with just a slight flattening to the base at one point and the minimal superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 60 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The egg cup is 4.8cm / 1.9ins in diameter across the top rim and stands 5.1cm / 2ins high. It weighs in at a respectable 24.1g / 0.85oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the side of the cup are crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter M for 1961 and the B & Co makers' mark for Broadway & Co.
