Description

This is a stylish Mid-Century Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The napkin ring is six sided, with a long flat base and an arched top. The outside has engine turned decoration all the way round with a blank oblong cartouche, very much in Art Deco style.

The napkin ring is made in Birmingham by F.H. Adams & Holman and dates to 1956. Founded in 1908 as F.H. Adams Ltd, they became F.H. Adams & Co in 1919 and finally F.H. Adams & Holman in 1936. They remained in business up until around 1960.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 65 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 4.5cm / 1.8ins long, 3.4cm / 1.3ins high and 2.3cm / 0.9ins deep. It weighs a respectable 23.4g / 0.83oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the inside of the base are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter G for 1956 and the F.H.A & H makers' mark for F.H. Adams & Holman.
