Description

This is a charming small Edwardian Sterling Silver Pepper Shaker. The shaker is pear shaped and stands on three paw feet with a central rim and a turned finial on the lid. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The pepper shaker is made in Birmingham by Arthur Cook and dates to 1903. We haven't been able to find a great deal of information about Arthur Cook other than that he appears to have been active for a quite short period of time between around 1899 and 1910.

Condition is good with just one truly miniscule ding in the body and the superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 120 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The pepper shaker stands 7.2cm / 2.8ins high and is 3.1cm / 1.2ins in diameter at its widest point. It weighs in at 21.6g / 0.76oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the side of the body are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter d for 1903 and the A.C makers' mark for Arthur Cook.
