Description

This is a smart circular George V Sterling Silver Napkin Ring with a thread & bow pattern around the top and bottom rims. The initials R.A.E are elegantly engraved in an Old English Gothic style on the front of the body.

The makers' mark is unfortunately quite rubbed, so we are unable to say who made the napkin ring but it was assayed in Chester in 1931.

Condition is generally good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you have to expect after 90 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 4.6cm / 1.8ins in diameter and stands 3.1cm / 1.2ins high. It weighs in at a very respectable 33.7g / 1.2oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the side of the body are somewhat rubbed but can all be read apart from the makers' marl. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the sword and three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester and the double ff date letter for 1931.
