Description

Here we have a beautiful late Victorian Sterling Silver Napkin Ring decorated in the Aesthetic style. The napkin ring is round with a beaded rim at top and bottom. The body is attractively engraved with birds, butterflies and flowers and a diagonal geometric band on each side. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The napkin ring is made in Sheffield by world famous silversmiths Walker & Hall, one of the great names in English silverware, and dates to 1897. As you would expect, it is a very well made piece in a good gauge of silver.

Condition is very good with no dings, dents or misshaping and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 120 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 3.1cm / 1.2ins high and 4.8cm / 1.9ins in diameter. It weighs a very respectable 38.2g / 1.3oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the side of the body, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter e for 1897 and the distinctive W & H in a pennant makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
