Description

This is a top quality pair of George V Sterling Silver Table Spoons in the classic Old English pattern. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The spoons are made in Sheffield by renowned silversmiths William Hutton & Sons Ltd and date to 1929. Originally established by William Hutton in Birmingham in 1800, the firm relocated to Sheffield in 1832, although they did much later acquire an additional premises back in Birmingham. They produced a wide range of silverware of consistently high quality until they were absorbed into James Dixon & Sons in 1930.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 90 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The table spoons are each 21.4cm / 8.4ins long and the pair together weigh in at a very substantial 157.8g / 5.6oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the underside of the stems are well struck and very clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter m for 1929 and the distinctive W H & Ss Ld makers' mark for William Hutton & Sons Ltd.

Shipping in the UK is £11 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
