3 x British Empire Exhibition Tea Caddies, 1924/5

Description
This is an evocative set of three Brass Lipton's Tea Caddies from the British Empire Exhibition. One is from 1924 and the other two from 1925. Each is a different shape but all have the British Empire Exhibition and Lion branding and the wording Lipton's Souvenir Tea Caddy. The British Empire Exhibition was held in Wembley, London from April 1924 until October 1925. It was directly responsible for the creation of the original Wembley Stadium with its famous twin towers, which opened in 1923 and played a big role in the exhibition. With over 27 million visitors during its two year run, it is claimed to be the most visited exhibition in history.
Many companies that were represented at the exhibition produced special souvenir versions of their products and these three tea caddies were part of the offering from Lipton's Tea. Although produced in huge numbers at the time, survivors are becoming increasingly harder to find.
The tea caddies have definitely seen some use and have a few dings and dents in them. They do however remain usable for storing anything dry, they make decorative items in their own right or will add to a collection of British Empire Exhibition memorabilia. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The shortest caddy is 9.7cm / 3.8ins high, the middle one 11cm / 4.3ins high and the tallest is 12cm / 4.7ins high. The set of three together weighs in at 396g / 13.9oz.
