Description

Here we have a very stylish George V Sterling Silver Mustard Pot with its original blue glass liner. The body of the pot is pierced with horizontal bars top and bottom and a wavy line decoration around the middle. It has a flat base and a flame finial.

The mustard pot is made in Birmingham by William Devenport and dates to 1922. William Devenport founded his firm in the early 1890s producing a very broad range of silver items up until the early 1950s.

Condition is generally good with only one very small dent just above where the handle joins the body at the bottom. There is a small amount of salt corrosion around the inside of the rim. The blue glass liner has no chips or cracks in it. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The mustard pot is 8.2cm / 3.2ins from rim to handle, 3.7cm / 1.4ins wide and 6.5cm / 2.5ins high to the top of the finial. Without the blue glass liner it weighs in at a respectable 31.1g / 1.1oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the upper part of the body are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter x for 1922 and the W.D makers' mark for William Devenport.
