Description

This is a good quality Art Deco Sterling Silver Mustard Pot with its blue glass liner. The pot has a low pedestal foot, a stepped lid and a turned finial.

The mustard pot is made by world famous silversmiths Walker & Hall in 1938 and, unusually for them, is assayed in London. Although they had a London showroom, most of their pieces are marked for Sheffield where their main factory was sited.

Condition is good with no dings or dents and just a few small salt spots here and there. The blue glass liner has no chips or cracks. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The mustard pot stands 6.3cm / 2.5ins high to the top of the finial and is 5.2cm / 2ins in diameter across the top rim. Without the blue glass liner it weighs in at a substantial 41.4g / 1.4oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the side of the body near the handle, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter C for 1938 and the W & H makers' mark for Walker & Hall. In addition the inside of the lid is marked with the lion passant and the leopard's head assay mark.
