Description

This is a good quality George III Sterling Silver Salt Spoon in the traditional Fiddle Pattern. It's a well made spoon in a good gauge of silver and has no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The spoon is made in London by James Beebe and dates to 1812. James Beebe was an early 19th century specialist spoon maker who was active in London between 1811 and the mid-1840s. His spoons and flatware are always of good quality.

Condition is good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect in an item of this age and use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The salt spoon is 9.3cm / 3.6ins long and weighs a respectable 9.5g / 0.34oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the London date letter R for 1812, the George III duty mark and the JB makers' mark for James Beebe.
