Description

This is a good quality, heavyweight George V Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. Unusually for this period, this is a completely plain napkin ring with no decoration and no initials or personalisation of any kind. It's perfect for use today, would make a perfect christening, wedding or retirement gift or be a great addition to a collection.

The napkin ring is made in Birmingham by T.H. Hazlewood & Co and dates to 1911. T.H. Hazlewood & Co were active in Barr Street in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter between around 1880 and 1920 making a wide range of silver items for domestic and personal use.

Condition is good with no dings or dents and just the minimal surface wear the you have to expect after 110 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 4.6cm / 1.8ins in diameter and 3.2cm / 1.3ins high. For a napkin ring, it weighs an unusually substantial 37.6g / 1.3oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the inside of the ring are easy to read, with just the first letter of the makers' mark being a little rubbed. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter m for 1911 and the T.H.H makers' mark for T.H. Hazlewood & Co.
