Description

This is a top quality Art Deco Sterling Silver Cream Jug & Sugar Bowl set in a heavy gauge of silver. Both pieces are round with a simple thread decoration around the top and bottom rims giving them an elegant simplicity.

The jug and bowl are made in Birmingham by the well known firm of Adie Brothers and date to 1925. Adie Brothers was founded in 1906 by the merger of two existing companies and remained in business under the control of the Adie family until it was absorbed into British Silverware in the mid-1960s.

Condition is good with just the light surface wear that you would expect from over 95 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The cream jug is 5.8cm / 2.3ins in diameter across the base, 8.6cm / 3.4ins from lip to handle and 5.8cm / 2.3ins tall. The sugar bowl is 7cm / 2.75ins in diameter across the base and 3.5cm / 1.4ins high. The pair together weigh in at a very substantial 164.1g / 5.79oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the sides of each item are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter A for 1925 and the distinctive A BROS LTD makers' mark for Atkin Brothers Ltd.

Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post, which includes cover for the value of the cream jug & sugar bowl.
