Description

This is a good quality Vintage Brass Peacock style Fire Screen on a Griffin base. It is most likely French in origin and is in the French Empire style although it dates to probably around the 1930s.

The screen folds away neatly when not in use and opens out like a peacock tail when required to screen the direct heat from a fire. There is a griffin figure on either side of the base, which is set within a crescent filled with oak leaves. The frame has scroll decoration along its full length.

The brass shows some signs of aging and verdigris but it is in full working order and folds open and shut without any issues. You could choose to polish the screen up if desired or keep it with the patina it has developed over its life. It\'s entirely your choice!

The fire screen stands 63cm / 24.8ins high and when opened it is 93cm / 36.6ins wide.
It weighs 3.5kg.
