Description

Here we have a very attractive pair of George III Sterling Silver Bright Cut Shell Teaspoons. The basic pattern of the spoons is Old English but with the bowl moulded into a shell shape and bright cut engraving decorating the length of the stem. The cartouche at the top of the stem is blank making them ideal to move on to a new owner.

The spoons are made in London by James Beebe and date to 1815. James Beebe was a specialist spoon maker operating between around 1810 and 1846. He produced flatware of consistently good quality throughout his career.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the most minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 200 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The teaspoons are each 12.3cm / 4.8\" long and the pair together weigh in at a respectable 22g / 0.77oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the underside of the stems are a little rubbed but still straightforward to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the London date letter \"U\" for 1815, the George III duty mark and the JB makers\' mark for James Beebe.
