Description

Here we have a very sweet pair of miniature Sterling Silver Pepper or Salt Shakers from Canada. The pepperettes are in a sort of lighthouse shape, with a small top sitting on top of a wider body. The tops are screw on, which means they are nice and secure when adding salt or pepper to your food. Their small size makes them ideal for taking on a picnic or they would be great on a tray if you're lucky enough to get breakfast in bed!

The pepper shakers are made by Lipman Brothers of Toronto in Canada and date to the interwar years. Lipman Brothers were based in Peter Street, Toronto and were active in the 1920s and 1930s. They became Lipman-Levinter when Henry Lipman's son-in-law Mervyn Levinter joined the company.

Condition is good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear you have to expect after many years of use. The lids are easy to screw on and off and form a tight seal when closed. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The pepper pots are 3.3cm / 1.3" high and 2.6cm / 1" in diameter across the base. The pair together weigh in at a respectable 20.8g / 0.73oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The marks on the base of each pepper shaker are the L Bros and eagle's head logos for Lipman Brothers either side of the word Sterling, for 925 grade Sterling Silver.
