Description

This is a stylish Mid-Century Sterling Silver Napkin Ring in a "D" shape. The napkin ring has engine turned decoration around the body, whilst the rim has a foliate pattern engraved around it. The cartouche on the top is blank, making it ideal as a gift.

The napkin ring is a quality piece in a good gauge of silver. It is made in Birmingham by Crisford & Norris and dates to 1955. Founded in 1896, Crisford & Norris produced a wide range of small items for personal use of consistently good quality. They remained in business up until 1978.

Condition is very good with no dings, dents or damage and barely any surface wear at all. It seems likely that the napkin ring has seen little use during its life and has probably been kept as a treasured gift. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 4.6cm / 1.8" across, 4cm / 1.6" high and 2.4cm / 0.9" deep. It weighs a respectable 27.4g / 0.96oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the inside of the ring are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "F" for 1955 and the C&N makers' mark for Crisford & Norris Ltd.
