Description

Here we have a very good quality large Elizabeth II Sterling Silver Gravy Boat from the 1970s. The gravy boat is in traditional style with a gadrooned rim, a c-scroll handle and standing on 3 hoof feet. It's of a good size, suitable for a family dinner.

The gravy boat is well made in a good gauge of silver by A.E. Jones Ltd of Birmingham and dates to 1973. Albert Edward Jones founded his firm in Birmingham around 1902. They produced a wide range of tableware and also ecclesiastical silver. The company ceased trading around the turn of the Millennium.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the superficial surface wear you would expect after nearly 50 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The gravy boat is 18.5cm / 7.3" long from lip to handle, 8.7cm / 3.4" wide and stands 12.3cm / 4.75" high to the top of the handle. It weighs a very substantial 275.6g / 9.72oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks just to one side of the handle are crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "Y" for 1973 and the A.E.J makers' mark for A.E. Jones Ltd.

Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post, which includes cover for the value of the gravy boat.
