Description

This is an Edwardian Hip Flask of the very highest quality. The flask is made from slice cut glass, with a flower and c-scroll decorated Sterling Silver top and a removable Sterling Silver drinking cup with a gilt interior.

The hip flask is made by world famous silversmiths, goldsmiths & jewellers Asprey & Co in London and dates to 1903. Asprey & Co have a history dating back to 1781 when they were founded by William Asprey. Charles Asprey was the principal through most of the 19th century and they became Asprey & Co in 1900, the name they retain to this day. They are synonymous with luxury goods of the very highest quality and their name is a guarantee of outstanding quality.

Condition of the hip flask is very good overall with just one tiny chip in the glass at the rim of the flask. The silver lid retains its original cork inner and there are no dings or dents to either the lid or the drinking cup. The gilt interior of the drinking cup is in good order with no loss to the gold plating. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The flask is 11.8cm / 4.7" high and 6.1cm / 2.4" wide. It fits neatly into a back trouser pocket, the inside pocket of a jacket or into a handbag.

The hallmarks on the side of the drinking cup and the lower part of the lid are clear to read with just a slight rubbing to the makers' mark. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the gothic date letter "h" for 1903 and the CA.GA makers' mark for Charles & George Asprey of Asprey & Co.
