Description

This is a very stylish and extremely practical Mid-Century Silver Plate Ice Bucket with a Ceramic Liner. The bucket is circular and undecorated and the fixed white ceramic liner is plain. The arched handle has a slender bracket which automatically lifts the lid as the handle is pulled back.

The ice bucket was made in Port Jervis, N.Y in the United States by the Crescent Silverware Mfg Co and dates to around the 1950s/60s. The company was founded in New York City in 1922 and then moved out to Port Jervis in 1939. They principally produced high quality silver plate items, of which they had an extensive range, but in their early days they also produced some pewter and chrome plated pieces. The firm was bought out by Samuel Kirk & Son in 1977.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no chips or cracks in the ceramic liner, no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The ice bucket is of a good size, standing 26.5cm / 10.4ins high to the top of the handle and being 19.2cm / 7.5ins in diameter. It weighs 1.67kg / 58.8oz.

The underside of the base is stamped Crescent above the lion, C and eagle trademarks of the Crescent Silverware Mfg Co Inc.
