Description

This is an ornate Pair of Victorian Gilt Brass Candlesticks. Each candlestick sits on four paw feet. The bases have pierced floral designs with further floral motifs on the bodies. The sconces have a flat square panel surrounding them with geometric decoration on the inside and pierced scrolling decoration around the outside.

As is usually the case with 19th century brass, there are no makers' marks to identify who made them but they are British and date to around the 1860s to 1890s.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the pierced sections and just the superficial surface wear and patina that you would anticipate with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each candlestick is 9.8cm / 3.8ins square across the base and stands 8.9cm / 3.5ins high. The pair together weigh in at a hefty 859g / 30.3oz.
