Description

This is an elegant late Victorian Cut Glass Scent Bottle with a Sterling Silver Collar. The bottle is shaped as a miniature spirit decanter with deep cut hobnail decoration around the body, a flat base and a faceted spherical stopper. The silver collar is plain.

The bottle was made in Birmingham in 1897 but the makers' mark has been polished away by many years of cleaning and we are unable to say who made it.

Condition is good with just a small chip on one of the top corners and a little nibble inside the neck plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time.

The scent bottle stands 13.4cm / 5.3ins high and is 4.7cm / 1.8ins square. It weighs 351.6g/ 12.4oz.

The hallmarks on the collar are very rubbed but you can just about make out the anchor assay mark for Birmingham and the date letter x for 1897.
