Description

This is a very stylish Art Deco Sterling Silver Toast Rack with four slots. The toast rack was made by Viner's Ltd in Sheffield and dates to the height of the Art Deco era in 1932. Having arrived in Sheffield around 1900, the Viener Brothers changed their name to Viner and went into business. Hugely successful, they were at their peak from the mid-1920s to the mid-1960s before finally closing down in the mid-1980s.

This is a well made toast rack in a classic Art Deco angular style, typical of the 1930s. It's a good size for use either on a breakfast bar on a tray if you're lucky enough to be treated to breakfast in bed!

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the most minimal surface wear that is to be expected after this period of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The toast rack holds four pieces of toast. It is 7.6cm / 3" long, 4.7cm / 1.8" wide and 7.3cm / 2.75" high. It weighs a respectable 56.0g / 1.98oz of solid silver.

The hallmarks on the side bar are very crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter "p" for 1932 and the E.V makers' mark for Emile Viner of Viner's Ltd.
