Description

This is a fine quality large Silver Plate Galleried Tray. The tray is oval with a plain undecorated base on four bun feet. The gallery is pierced with gadrooned rims to top and bottom. The oval handles are within the gallery at each end.

The tray is British and dates to between the 1930s and 1950s, or just possibly a little earlier. There is no makers' mark so we are unable to say who manufactured it.

Condition is very good, with just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. There is no significant plate loss, just a few coppery glints showing through around the top of the rim. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The tray is of a substantial size, measuring 60.2cm / 23.7ins by 39.4cm / 15.5ins and standing 5.2cm / 2ins high to the top of the gallery. It weighs in at a hefty 1.52kg / 53.7oz.

The underside of the tray is stamped SILVER ON COPPER showing that it is silver plated onto a copper base.
