Description

This is a good quality 19th Century Meerschaum Pipe with a Butterscotch Amber mouthpiece. The meerschaum has been carved into the form of a hand holding an egg (the bowl) extending from a sleeve with a frilled cuff.

The pipe is probably German or Austrian in origin and dates to the second half of the 19th century between around 1850 and 1890.

The pipe has definitely been used and both the meerschaum and the amber have developed a nice patina. There are no cracks or chips in either part of the pipe. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The pipe is 13.5cm / 5.3ins long, 3.1cm / 1.2ins across and 4.3cm / 1.7ins high. It weighs 33.8g / 1.19oz.
