Pair of 19th Century Continental Scent Bottles

Description

This is an attractive Pair of 19th Century Cut Glass Scent Bottles with Silver Lids. The bottles are oblong with chamfered shoulders and hobnail cut decoration on all sides. They have their original interior glass stoppers. The silver screw on lids have flat tops. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The bottles and lids are unmarked but they are continental in origin and the lids test as silver, probably 800/1000 grade. They date to the latter years of the 19th century from around the 1880s/90s.

Condition is good, with no chips or cracks in the glass. The interior stoppers fit securely. There are some small dings in the screw necks of the silver lids. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each bottle is 7.3cm / 2.9ins high with the base measuring 3.3cm / 1.3ins by 2.6cm / 1in. The two lids by themselves weigh in at 6.6g / 0.23oz of silver and all in the pair of bottles weigh 163.9g / 5.8oz.
