Description

This is a handsome Victorian Pewter Chamberstick from the late 19th century. The chamberstick has a deep circular saucer with a c-shape handle and thumb rest. The candlestick in the centre has a turned cylindrical stem and an urn shaped sconce. It comes complete with its original conical snuffer which fits into a hole on the handle.

The chamberstick has a set of touchmarks on the underside of the saucer showing W H in a shield, a bird of prey, a shield with three stars across the centre and a lion's face. These may be the marks of W Harrison & Co of Sheffield but we cannot say for certain. Above these is the crowned rose surrounded by ferns which was the symbol used for top quality pewter in the 19th century.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The chamberstick is 17.8cm / 7ins from rim to handle, 14.7cm / 5.8ins across the saucer and stands 9.5cm / 3.7ins high. It weighs 431g / 15.2oz.
