Silver Plate Creamer, Sugar Bowl & Stand c1920/30s

Description
This is an elegant Early 20th Century Silver Plate Cream Jug and Sugar Bowl with Stand. The stand is an uneven hourglass shape with the lobed cream jug at the smaller end and the lobed sugar bowl at the larger. Both pieces are engraved with the letter A.The set would work equally well with strawberries in the bowl and thick cream in the jug.
The set was made in Birmingham by Birmingham Handicrafts Ltd, a later offshoot of the Birmingham Guild of Handicrafts, and dates to around the 1920s/30s. The Guild was established in 1895 by Edward R Taylor of the Birmingham School of Art and William Kenrick, the local MP and a big Arts and Crafts enthusiast. They produced furniture, metalware, electroplate and silverware and opened a London showroom just off Oxford Street. They struggled financially and merged first in 1905 and then again in 1919 but continued in business as either Birmingham Guild Ltd or Birmingham Handicrafts Ltd until the early 1950s.
Condition is fair, with no dings or dents. There is a little plate loss to the bottoms of both cream jug and sugar bowl and to the stand where the two pieces sit but it remains an attractive and perfectly usable set. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cream jug is 11.5cm / 4.5ins from lip to handle, 8.3cm / 3.2ins across and 5.5cm / 2.1ins high. The sugar bowl is 12.4cm / 4.9ins in diameter and 4.7cm / 1.8ins high. The stand is 21.7cm / 8.5ins long and stands 16cm / 6.3ins high. All together the set weighs in at 455g / 16oz.
The underside of the stand is EPNS for silver plate and B H Li for Birmingham Handicrafts Ltd. The creamer jug and sugar bowl are both stamped EPNS for silver plate.
