Description

This is a stunning, ornate, large Victorian silver plated salver from the second half of the 19th Century. The salver is made by Deane & Co of London Bridge and dates to the period 1850-1890, when the company was operating as both a manufacturer and retailer from their premises in the London Bridge area.

The salver has a pie crust rim decorated with six roses, three of which extend down the tripod feet. The flat surface is decorated with floral and foliate engraving and two scallop shell "crowns".

Condition is good with no dings or dents and just one small patch of plate loss just off the centre circle. Other than that it just has the superficial surface scratching you would expect after over 130 years of use! It stands firmly and securely on a flat surface with no rocking.

The salver is 32cm / 12.5" in diameter and stands 3.6cm / 1.5" high. It weighs 875g / 30.9oz.

It is stamped on the bottom with Deane & Co, London Bridge, which gives us our maker and date range of 1850 to 1890.
