Description

This is an elegant Vintage Sterling Silver Bud Vase. The vase is trumpet shaped with a domed circular base which is weighted for stability. It is ideal for a single flower and would grace any breakfast or dining tray or look beautiful on a desk.

The vase was made in Birmingham by Sanders & Mackenzie and dates to 1963. Ernest W. Sanders and Henry A. Mackenzie established their firm in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter in 1911. They were very successful, producing a broad range of silverware from their premises in Spencer Street, where they remained in business until around 1980.

Condition is very good, with just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The bud vase stands 7.3cm / 2.9ins high and is 3.2cm / 1.2ins in diameter. It weighs in at 16.8g / 0.59oz, which does of course include the weighting material in the base.

The hallmarks, on the upper side of the base, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter O for 1963 and the S & M makers' mark for Sanders & Mackenzie.
