Description

This is a stylish Art Deco Sterling Silver Mustard Spoon. The spoon has a teardrop shaped bowl with Odeon style decoration at the top of the stem. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The mustard spoon was made in Birmingham by Adie Brothers Ltd and dates to 1932. The firm was founded in 1906 when two established Birmingham silversmiths, McKewan & Adie and E.S. Barnsley & Co, were merged under the leadership of Percy Adie to form Adie Brothers Ltd. The company was very successful and produced a wide range of silverware until the 1960s when they were absorbed into British Silverware.

Condition is good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The mustard spoon is 6.1cm / 2.4ins long and weighs in at 5.6g / 0.19oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the underside of the bowl, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter H for 1932 and the distinctive A Bros Ltd makers' mark for Adie Brothers Ltd.
