Description

This is a smart Mid-Century Sterling Silver Mustard Spoon in the Hanoverian pattern. This is originally an 18th century pattern with a central rib and an upturned end that was revived in the 20th century. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The mustard spoon was made in London in 1965. The silversmith was RC who was active making spoons in the 1960s and 1970s but about whom there is no other information that we can find.

Condition is good with no dings or dents and just a slight kink in the stem plus the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The spoon is 7.7cm / 3ins long and weighs in at 6.0g / 0.21oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are clear to read with the exception of the makers' mark which is quite faint but still readable. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter k for 1965 and the R C makers' mark.
