Description

This is an attractive Vintage Sterling Silver Belt Buckle in the Art Nouveau style. The two part buckle has a large daisy type flower on each piece surrounded by sinuous foliage and flower buds set within a lyre shaped frame.

The belt buckle was made by Bishton's Ltd and assayed in Birmingham in 1996. Founded in 1944, Bishton’s were based in Bromsgrove in Worcestershire. They were jewellery and accessory manufacturers who supplied items to many retailers. The firm ceased trading in 2017.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings, dents or damage and just the most minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The buckle is 8cm / 3.1ins by 4.5cm / 1.8ins and weighs in at a respectable 26.6g / 0.94oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the clasp of the buckle, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter W for 1996 and the B S makers' mark for Bishton's Ltd.
