Description

This is a good quality small Victorian Sterling Silver Mustard Spoon in the classic Old English pattern. The Mustard Spoon is made in Birmingham by silversmiths Henry Williamson Ltd and dates to 1898. Henry Williamson was a very successful firm of silversmiths who manufactured in Birmingham and operated a London showroom in Farringdon Road between around 1890 and 1930.

This mustard spoon is in remarkably good condition for its age. It has been extremely well looked after and has only the most superficial signs of over 120 years of serving mustard. It is completely suitable for modern use on the dining table. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The spoon is 6cm long and weighs 3.4g.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are well struck and clear to read although the first letter of the makers' mark has been pretty much rubbed away, which shows it has been well cleaned on many occasions. The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the gothic date letter "y" for 1898 and H.W.Ld makers' mark for Henry Williamson Ltd.
