Description

This is a smart Edwardian Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The napkin ring is quite a narrow one with crimped edges to both top and bottom. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The napkin ring was made in Birmingham by A.J. Bailey and dates to 1905. The firm of A.J.Bailey was established in Birmingham in the 1890s, later becoming A.J. Bailey & Son. They principally produced flatware and tableware and were very successful, remaining in business under the management of the Bailey family until well into the 1970s.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with age and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 4.1cm / 1.6ins in diameter and 1.2cm / 0.47ins deep. It weighs in at 3.2g / 0.11oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the side of the ring are a little rubbed but still easy to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter f for 1905 and the A.J.B makers' mark for A.J. Bailey.
