Description

This is a beautiful and exquisitely made early 20th Century Chinese 970 Silver Filigree Dish. The dish has a round solid central base with an embossed flower design. Around this are five filigree sections with a flower design in the centre of each.

There has never been a compulsory system of silver marking in China and this bowl is marked only with 97 for 970/1000 grade silver and the word Yin, Mandarin for silver. It is likely to have been made in the city of Chengdu.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the delicate filigree wire work and just the barest minimum of superficial surface wear. This has clearly been well looked after over the years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The dish is 11.5cm / 4.5ins in diameter and 1cm / 0.39ins high. It weighs in at a very respectable 63.4g / 2.2oz of solid silver.

The underside of the base is stamped with 97 for 970/1000 grade silver and the word Yin in Chinese characters for silver in Mandarin.

Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the dish.
