Description

This is a distinctive pair of Early 20th Century Ebony Candlesticks. The candlesticks have round stepped bases, barley twist stems, drip trays and urn shaped sconces. The drip trays and sconces can be unscrewed for ease of cleaning.

The candlesticks are stamped REAL EBONY on the undersides of the bases and date to around 1900 to 1920. There is no indication of a maker.

Ebony items were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th century but since the fifties Ebony has become much scarcer and other materials have taken over.

Condition is good with just a little bit of chipping to the wood inside the sconces, probably caused by someone removing old wax. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each candlestick stands 17.5cm / 6.9ins high and is 6.9cm / 2.7ins in diameter across the base. The pair together weigh in at 277.3g / 9.8oz.
