Description

This is a neat and practical Mid-Century Elizabeth II Sterling Silver Mustard Spoon. The spoon is in the classic Old English pattern and has no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The mustard spoon is made in Birmingham by Adie Brothers Ltd and dates to 1954. The firm was founded in 1906 when two established Birmingham silversmiths, McKewan & Adie and E.S. Barnsley & Co, were merged under the leadership of Percy Adie to form Adie Brothers Ltd. The company was very successful and produced a wide range of silverware until the 1960s when they were absorbed into British Silverware.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 70 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The mustard spoon is 7cm / 2.75ins long and weighs in at 4.2g / 0.15oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter E for 1954 and the distinctive triangular A BROS LTD makers' mark for Adie Brothers Ltd.
