Description

This is a large, good quality Sterling Silver Napkin Ring with scroll edge decoration from the reign of George V. The Napkin Ring was made in Birmingham in 1924 by silversmith Robert Chandler. Robert Chandler was in business between around 1900 and 1925 and principally made tableware and personal items. This is a very well made piece in a heavy gauge of silver.

The Napkin Ring is round with a flat base and scrollwork decoration along both edges. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind, making it particularly suitable to move on to a new owner.

Condition is good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear you would expect after over 95 years of use. It would look completely at home on a modern dining table or make a good addition to a collection. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The Napkin Ring is 5.3cm across at its widest, 3.8cm deep and 3.7cm high. It weighs a very substantial 35.9g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, which are well struck and clear to read, are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "z" for 1924 and the R.C makers' mark for Robert Chandler.
