Description

This is an elegant Edwardian Sterling Silver Spoon Rest with a scalloped Art Nouveau style rim. The spoon rest has a circular base with a slightly upturned handle for the stem of the spoon to rest on extending from the scalloped rim. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The spoon rest is made in London in 1908. There is a faint ghost of a makers' mark but it has been polished many times over the years and can no longer be read.

Condition is very good, with just one tiny ding in the upper rim and the superficial surface wear that you would expect after 115 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The spoon rest is 9.5cm / 3.7ins from rim to handle, 8.3cm / 3.2ins across and 1.1cm / 0.43ins high. It weighs in at 26.7g / 0.94oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The remaining hallmarks, on the underside of the base, are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London and the date letter n for 1908. As per above, the makers' mark is just the faintest ghost and cannot be read.
