Description

A very nicely decorated late Victorian Sterling Silver Napkin Ring with the letter "J" nicely engraved in the cartouche.

This napkin ring was made in Birmingham by well known silversmiths Deakin & Francis and dates to 1886. Brothers-in-law Stephen Deakin and John Francis founded the firm in 1786 and it remains a going concern under the management of the Deakin family today.

This is a good quality napkin ring with very attractive floral and star decoration. The front star cartouche has the initial "J" in it and the rear one has the hallmarks in it.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the most minimal wear. It has been well looked after for nearly 135 years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 4.2cm in diameter and 2.6cm deep. It weighs a respectable 20.2g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the gothic date letter "m" for 1886, the Queen Victoria duty mark and the D & F makers' mark for Deakin & Francis.
