Description

This is a stylish Mid-Century Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The ring is D-shaped with Art Deco style engine turned decoration and a rectangular blank cartouche.

The napkin ring is made in Birmingham by silversmiths Broadway & Co and dates to 1953. Founded by William Broadway in 1901, the firm is still in the family today and operating from premises in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after around 70 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 4.6cm / 1.8ins across, 3.9cm / 1.5ins high and 1.5cm / 0.59ins deep. It weighs in at 9.6g / 0.34oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the side of the body, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter D for 1953 and the B & Co makers' mark for Broadway & Co.
