Description

Here we have an attractive large Art Nouveau Water Pitcher from Royal Doulton's famous Lambeth factory. The pitcher is tall with a cylindrical body which is decorated by a broad central band featuring what are either trees or stalks of wheat rising from a base of sinuous roots. The jug has the classic Doulton colour combination of blues, browns and greens. It would work equally well as a water pitcher or a vase for cut flowers.

The pitcher is signed MH on the base for Marion Holbrook, a Senior Assistant at the Doulton Lambeth factory in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This jug is stamped Royal Doulton so must date after 1902 but is no later than the early 1920s.

Condition is extremely good, with no chips, cracks or damage. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The pitcher stands 26.3cm / 10.3ins high and is 14cm / 5.5ins in diameter. It weighs in at 1.7kg / 59.9oz.

The underside has the Royal Doulton stamp and the hand inscribed MH for Marion Holbrook.
